Frequently Asked Questions
1. What kind of counselling do you offer?
I offer individual counselling for adults where you can explore whatever feels challenging, confusing or overwhelming. You don't need a specific diagnosis or goal – just a willingness to talk and reflect. I work with adults experiencing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties and life transitions. I also support adults with autism and ADHD.
2. What is humanistic integrative counselling?
Humanistic integrative counselling is a flexible, client-centred approach that draws from different therapeutic methods to suit your unique needs. It focuses on self-awareness, emotional growth, and building a trusting relationship, allowing you to explore your experiences in a supportive and non-judgmental space.
3. What issues can I bring to counselling?
You can bring anything that's affecting your wellbeing. This might include anxiety, low mood, overthinking, self-criticism, relationship difficulties, life transitions or stress. Whatever you're experiencing, counselling offers a space to make sense of it.
4. What happens in a session?
There isn't a set agenda. We'll begin with what's most important to you that day. My role is to help you explore your thoughts and feelings, make sense of your experiences, and find a way forward that feels right for you.
5. How long does therapy take?
Some people benefit from short-term counselling (6–12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term support. We’ll talk about your goals and decide together what feels most helpful.
6. How often are sessions?
Sessions are usually once a week and last 50 minutes. Regularity helps build trust and momentum, but we can adjust the frequency if needed.
7. Are sessions confidential?
Yes — confidentiality is central to our work. Everything you share is kept private, with a few exceptions (such as risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or when required by law). We’ll talk through this in your first session.
8. How much do sessions cost?
I offer a sliding scale to make counselling as accessible as possible.
Online sessions: £50–£70
In-person sessions (Tottenham): £65–£80
We can discuss the fee when you get in touch and agree an amount that feels appropriate.
9. When do I need to pay for sessions?
Payment is required in advance to confirm your session. I’ll provide bank details when we book. Online sessions are paid by bank transfer, and in-person sessions can be arranged similarly.
10. Do I need a referral to start counselling?
No referral is needed. You’re welcome to contact me directly to book a free 15-minute consultation.
11. What can I expect from the initial consultation?
It's an informal conversation where we can talk about what's bringing you to therapy and whether counselling with me feels like the right next step for you.
12. What if I feel uncomfortable during therapy?
That’s completely okay. Sometimes, difficult emotions can surface when we explore deeper issues. You’re always encouraged to say if something doesn’t feel right. Your comfort and emotional safety are a priority.
13. Can I stop therapy if it’s not for me?
Yes — you’re free to stop at any time. I recommend having a planned final session so we can bring things to a thoughtful close, but there’s no obligation to continue if it doesn’t feel right.
14. Do you offer online or in-person sessions?
Yes — I offer both. You can choose what works best for you. If you’re unsure, we can talk through the options during your consultation.
15. Do you work with children or couples?
No, I currently work with individual adults only.
